Gaylen Hansen

born Garland, Utah, 1921
BiographyGaylen Hansen began his distinguished career studying art at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles in 1939. He continued his formal studies at the Art Barn School of Fine Arts in Salt Lake City and completed a master of fine arts degree at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles in 1953. In 2007, the survey exhibition Gaylen Hansen: Three Decades of Painting toured the Northwest and Salt Lake City. He has been exhibiting in galleries and museums regularly since 1943. Highlights of this career include his first one-person exhibition at Seattle Art Museum in 1959 and the 1983 38th Corcoran Biennial Exhibition of American Painting in Washington, D.C. He also has taught at Washington State University.
