Robert Helm

Robert Helm earned his MFA at Washington State University, studying in part with the Northwest painter Gaylen Hansen (born 1921). He taught briefly at the University of Colorado then at Washington State University from 1971 to 1984. Helm was a meticulous painter creating only a few works each year that were eagerly exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Berlin, Germany. A retrospective of his work was held at the Tacoma Art Museum in 1995. He received a Governor's Arts Award in 1992 and a Flintridge Foundation fellowship in 2004.
