Lucy Liu

BiographyLucy Liu is a Chinese brush painter and calligrapher who studied at the University of Taiwan as a young woman. She immigrated to the United States in 1973 and attended Eastern Washington University where she received both a BFA degree and an MFA in Art Education. She moved to the Seattle area in 1976 and established a studio. She has had numerous gallery exhibitions and has won an impressive list of awards. She founded the Northwest Chinese Art Society in 1984 in order to promote Asian art in the United States. In 1989, in celebration of the Washington Centennial, Lucy was nominated by several art institutes for the Ethnic Heritage award. She was chosen by the Governor as a "Washington State Living Treasure" for her mastery and teaching of Chinese art.
She also teaches traditional Chinese brush painting.
