Bill Colbyborn Beloit, Kansas, 1937; died Tacoma, Washington, 2019

Bill Colby received his bachelor of arts from the University of Denver in 1950 and his master of arts from the University of Illinois in 1954. From 1956 through 1989, he was first a professor of art and then professor emeritus at University of Puget Sound in Tacoma. In the mid-1960s he was director of Tacoma Art Museum, and from 1988 to 1991 he served as a lecturer for the Washington State Commission for the Humanities on Chinese and Japanese printmaking. Colby has an extensive exhibition history, including regional and national group print exhibitions as well as solo exhibitions throughout the Northwest.
