Felice Nittolo
born Capriglia Irpina, Italy, 1950
In 1984 at the Second International Congress of the International Association of Contemporary Mosaicists he issued a manifesto promoting a rethinking and contemporary updating of the mosaic tradition. This public declaration brought him and his work international attention. He went on to organize and participate in exhibitions across Europe, Asia, and the United States around various new iterations of the mosaic form including a mosaic coat he created at Pilchuck Glass School. He has taught the art of mosaic at the Istituto d’Arte at the Accademia di Belle Arti, both in Ravenna, and at the Pilchuck Glass School.
