David Reekie
born London, England, 1947
From 1975 to1985 he was a Fellow in Glass at Lincolnshire and Humberside Arts and from 1976-1986 he lectured in glass at North Staffordshire Polytechnic. He moved to Norwich in 1986 where he set up his own studio. In 1988 he was awarded a Winston Churchill Fellowship to study Alternative Architectural Glass in the United States. He was appointed an International Council Member to Pilchuck Glass in 1994. In 1998 he was short listed for the Jerwood Prize for Glass and in 2006 his work was short listed for the Coburg Glass Prize, Germany. His art can be found in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, as well as in several other public collections in the United Kingdom. A founding member of British Artists in Glass, (now the Contemporary Glass Society), Reekie's work has featured in countless periodicals and in over 60 exhibits worldwide.
