David Prytherch

born Bangor, North Wales, 1949
BiographyDavid Prytherch is Senior Research Fellow in Haptics and Computer Interface Design at Birmingham City University, England. Originally trained as a teacher of Art and Design, he has 30 years' professional experience as a freelance glass engraver/sculptor and is a Fellow of the Guild of Glass Engravers. His work has been exhibited all over the world and is in the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London and the Corning Museum of Glass, New York, among others.

Following a disabling road accident in 1986, Prytherch began examining the role of computer technology in the making of artworks. He went on to pursue a degree in haptic perception, completing his PhD in 2003.
