Silvia Levenson
Silvia Levenson is a contemporary artist and political activist working in glass. She explores daily interpersonal relationships through installations and objects, pushing the potential of glass as a narrative medium. She received the Rakow Commission Award from The Corning Museum of Glass in 2004 and, in 2008, she was a shortlisted nominee for the Bombay Sapphire Prize. In 2016 she received the Glass in Venice Award from Istituto Veneto, Venice, Italy. Her work has been exhibited around the world and is a part of the collections of The Corning Museum of Glass; New Mexico Museum of Art; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Museo Rigaulleau, Argentina; and Musée Atelier de Verre de Sars Poteries, France, among many others. She is connected to the Northwest through her time as an instructor at Pilchuck Glass School. She also has worked regularly with Bullseye Glass Studio in Portland (OR) because of her expertise in cast glass.
