BiographyAnn Gardner studied painting, ceramics, and drawing at the University of Oregon and at Portland State University before moving to Seattle in 1979. She initially created hand-painted ceramic tile and shard mosaics but began working with glass tile after she was invited to Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, Washington, as an artist-in-residence. She covers her sculptural forms with a mosaic of glass tiles in order to add color and light to her work. Gardner has won numerous awards and grants. Her work is included in major collections such as the National Museum of American Art, the American Craft Museum, the Corning Museum of Glass, the Racine Art Museum, the Detroit Institute of the Arts, and the Seattle Art Museum and she has a number of corporate and public art commissions.
