Francisco Dosamantes

BiographyFrancisco Dosamantes studied at the Academy of San Carlos, Mexico City. He began exhibiting in group shows at the age of seventeen and by 1932 his paintings and prints were being exhibited throughout both Mexico and the United States. He was a member of the Taller Grafica Popular (Popular Graphics Workshop) and a founding member of the Sociedad para el Impulso de las Artes Plasticas (Society for the Plastic Arts) and the Frente Nacional de Artes Plasticas (National Front for the Plastic Arts).

Dosamantes also was an influential teacher through his work as an instructor at several schools and through his role as Director at the Taller Artistico Joaquin Clausell in Campeche, Mexico.
