Carl Brenders

BiographyCarl Brenders first studied at the Fine Arts Academy of Antwerp and later at Academie Berchem. He made his debut in the art world as a wildlife illustrator for nature books. He specializes in accurate depictions of wildlife and their habitats.

Brenders’ paintings can be found in museum and private collections in the U.S., Europe, and Hong Kong and he has won numerous awards for his work. The Carnegie Museum of Natural History held a retrospective of his career in 1997 which traveled to Cleveland, Kentucky, and Louisiana. His art is the subject of the critically acclaimed book, Wildlife: The Nature Paintings of Carl Brenders, published by Harry N. Abrams in 1994.
