Nancy Glazier

Artist Info
Nancy GlazierAmerican, born 1947

A native of Salt Lake City, Nancy Glazier received her first set of oil paints at the age of eight. When she was 16, her family relocated to Cody, Wyoming, where Glazier was able to study under the German muralist Adolph Spohr, who taught her the basics of painting. By the time she was 18, Glazier was able to support herself as an artist, and soon took an interest in wildlife art. Glazier prefers to paint her subjects from life and travels around the United States visiting national parks and game preserves in search of wildlife. In 2000, the naturally right-handed artist decided to challenge herself and embarked on a series of still lifes, portraits, and seascapes that she executes with her left hand. While her wildlife paintings are characteristically done in tight focus, her left-handed work has a looser, more painterly quality that represents a new phase in her career.
