Philip McCracken
born Bellingham, Washington, 1928; died 2021
He has worked in a variety of media from wood and bronze to epoxy, and experimented with elements of both realism and abstraction He is particularly inspired by nature, both the Northwest landscape and its wildlife.
His work has been included in group exhibitions at the Smithsonian Institution, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Museum of Northwest Art, La Conner. The Whatcom Museum of Art, Bellingham, curated a retrospective of his career earlier this year. He was awarded the Washington State Governor’s Art Award in 1994. His works can be found in numerous museum and private collections.
