Melvin Kohler

born Saskatchewan, Canada, 1911
BiographyMelvin Kohler was a Tacoma artist and teacher. He worked in the Art Department at the University of Puget Sound and served as the head of the department from 1934 to 1941. He was instrumental in the founding of several Tacoma arts institutions including the Tacoma Art Association and Tacoma Art Museum. Kohler also served as Associate Director of the Henry Art Gallery at the University of Washington.
