BiographyVictoria Adams has earned critical acclaim and developed a passionate following by collectors and institutions nationwide for her luminous landscapes, which are steeped in the traditions of landscape painting and philosophy. Adams first earned a bachelor’s degree in literature from The Ohio State University in Columbus. In 1979, Adams completed a bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Washington in Seattle. At the UW, Adams studied with Jacob Lawrence, Robert Jones, Francis Celentano, and Bill Ritchie. Since her graduation, she has had more than 35 solo exhibitions and been included in more than sixty-five group exhibitions in galleries in the United States and Canada including the University of Oregon Museum of Art in Eugene, 1996 (now the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art); Henry Art Gallery, University of Washington, Seattle, 2000; Frye Art, 2001; and Tacoma Art Museum, 2010. In addition to Tacoma Art Museum, her paintings are included in the collections of the Museum of Northwest Art, the Boeing Company, the Allen Foundation for the Arts, the Nordstrom Corporation, City of Chicago, and the U.S. Department of State. In 2009, Adams completed an artist-in-residency program and exhibition at the Lux Art Institute in Encinitas, California.
