Hank Murta Adams received a bachelor of fine arts degree from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1978 where he studied with Dale Chihuly. He continued his studies at Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina as well as Pilchuck Glass School in Washington. He is currently the Studio Creative Director at Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center in New Jersey.

Adams has been awarded three fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and was the recipient of an Individual Artist Fellowship Award from the New York State Arts Council. He was awarded a fellowship at the Creative Glass Center of America in 2001 and is a member of the Creative Glass Center of America Advisory Board. His work has been featured in numerous one-man and group exhibitions in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
