Blanche Morgan Losey
born Los Angeles, California, 1912; died 1981
She was director of the Frederick & Nelson department store design department for more than 35 years and served as national president of the American Society of Interior Designers. She also did a variety of design projects in the community including the Seattle Opera House.
As an artist, Losey was known for her hard-edged watercolor style and later, her surrealist works. She was a member of the Women Painters of Washington for much of her career as well as the Northwest Watercolor Society and the National Association of Women Artists. During the Depression era, she worked for the Federal Art Project and also created set designs for the Federal Theater Project under the WPA.
