BiographyA New York City native, Yvonne Humber pursued her art training at the National Academy of Design and at the Art Students League. From 1935 to 1943 she worked for the Federal Art Project in Boston establishing a national reputation. After relocating to Seattle in 1943 she continued to exhibit nationally at such prestigious venues as the Phillips Memorial Gallery in Washington, D.C. and the Palace of the Legion of Honor, San Francisco. She also was active regionally joining, and later becoming president of, the Women Painters of Washington as well as the Northwest Printmakers Society. Seattle Art Museum had a solo exhibition of her work in 1946. Artist Trust in Seattle annually awards a prize she endowed to recognize Washington State women artists over the age of 60.
