Dorothy Dolph Jensen

Dorothy Dolph Jensen was sent to study art in Antwerp, Belgium, at the age of 12 and then continued at the prestigious Académie Julian in Paris. Upon returning to the Northwest, she studied at the Museum Art School at the Portland Art Museum (now the Pacific Northwest College of Art) with the influential artist and teacher Henry F. “Harry” Wentz (1875–1965). After relocating to Seattle, Jensen went on to a nationally successful career as a painter. She was a founding member of the Women Painters of Washington and a charter member of the Northwest Watercolor Society. Jensen was also one of the Northwest’s earliest and most dedicated printmakers. She exhibited her work nationally, including in Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington, DC.
