Leonard Baskin

born New Brunswick, New Jersey, 1922; died Northampton, Massachusetts, 1977

BiographyLeonard Baskin worked in a variety of media, focusing particularly on sculpture and printmaking. He often illustrated book projects notably "Moby Dick" and a collection of Ted Hughes' poetry. He studied at Yale University School of Fine Art and founded the Gehenna Press there. He later relocated to England. His works can be found in museums across the United States and he created two large scale memorial sculptures: the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial in Washington, D.C. and the Holocaust Memorial in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
