BiographyRichard “Dick” Elliott received his BA in art from Central Washington University, Ellensburg in 1971. In 1978 he co–created Dick and Jane’s Spot, a sprawling art environment in Ellensburg, with his wife Jane Orleman. In the 1980s he began working with reflectors and light patterns which launched him into a series of works of increasing scale. He created numerous public art installations throughout Washington State and over 30 of his reflective paintings were purchased for public schools. He was also an incredibly prolific studio artist with solo exhibitions at museums and galleries all over the Northwest throughout his 30+ year career. In 2000 he was named a distinguished alumnus of Central Washington University and in 2008 he received both the Governor’s Award in the Arts (Washington State) and American for the Art’s Innovation in Public Art Award.
