William Morris

BiographyWilliam Morris is an internationally known glass artist and considered an innovator in the field, particularly in his treatments of surface texture. He was educated at California State University in Chico and at Central Washington University in Ellensburg. Early in his career he was a gaffer (master glassblower) for Dale Chihuly (born 1941). He then went on to maintain his own studio. His glass sculptures are part of the permanent collections of many museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the American Craft Museum, the Chrysler Museum of Art, the Louvre in Paris, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. He draws inspiration for his works from sources including the natural world, ancient cultures, and Native American art and culture.
