George Kelly

born Boston, Massachusetts, 1961
BiographyGeorge Kelly began pursuing photography after enrolling in a darkroom class at a Boys and Girls Club in Paris in 1985. Influenced by photographer Robert Doisneau, he began taking black and white images of street life in the places he lived. He moved to Portland in 1991.

Kelly began taking color pinhole photographs in 2007 and also has produced a body of square format color photographs as part of his ongoing involvement with the Portland Grid Project. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in Portland, London, Bangkok, and Stockholm.
