Eirik Johnson
Eirik Johnson earned a bachelor of art in history and a bachelor of fine arts from the University of Washington in 1997. He received a master of fine arts degree from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2003.
He has had one-person exhibitions in galleries in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Chicago. His photographs are in the collections of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Fulbright Association; George Eastman House, Rochester, New York; Henry Art Gallery, University of Washington, Seattle; Seattle Art Museum; and Tacoma Art Museum, among others. Among his many awards and grants, he received a Fulbright Fellowship in 1999, an Art Matters Grant in 2014, and the Betty Bowen Special Recognition Award in 2015.
His award-winning monograph Borderlands was published by Twin Palms Press in 2005. His most recent book Sawdust Mountain was published by Aperture in 2009 and is the subject of a major traveling exhibition.
