Rick Bartow

BiographyRick Bartow earned a Bachelor of Arts in Art Education from Western Oregon State University in 1969. After serving in the Vietnam War he returned to art making building an impressive professional career. He had solo exhibitions at museum, universities, and galleries internationally and his art can be found in over 100 public collections. His work was the subject of a retrospective organized by the Hallie Ford Museum of Art, Willamette University in 2002 and a major traveling exhibition organized by the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, University of Oregon and Froelick Gallery (Portland) from 2015 to 2020. He also inaugurated the Continuum 12 series at the National Museum of the American Indian, New York in 2003. In 2011 the A.D. Gallery, University of North Carolina curated a major survey exhibition of his work. Honors include an Eiteljorg Museum Fellowship for Native American Fine Art and a year-long installation in the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden at The White House. He lived and worked in Newport, Oregon.
