Livio Seguso

born Murano, Italy, 1930
BiographyLivio Seguso began training in traditional glassmaking techniques on Murano as a young man. After working as an assistant to Alfredo Barbini he became the master glassblower at Salviati & Co. In 1969 he opened his own glass factory. There he began to experiment with glass as a sculptural medium eventually adding other materials such marble, granite, and wood. He sold his firm in 1990 to focus on his sculptural work. He has exhibited all over Europe, in Japan and Taiwan, and in the United States. He was Professional Artist-in-Residence at Pilchuck Glass School in 2013.
