Inez Hill Bailey

BiographyInez Hill Bailey was an artist active in Spokane, Washington for several decades (1930-1960). She was initially trained in Boston, Massachusetts, and Duluth, Minnesota. She relocated to Spokane around 1930 where she studied with Maude Sutton and at the Spokane Art Center, with Worth McCoy and George Lainer. Her preferred subjects in the 1930s and 1940s were regional scenes, particualrly of eastern Washington. She later experimented with abstraction and other modernist styles.

Besides her activities as a painter, Bailey was Head Surgical Nurse for Edgecliff Hospital in Spokane for many years. She was a Charter Member for the American Penwomen and was a member of the Washington Art Association.
