BiographyEvelyn Marx studied design, printmaking and painting at the University of Cincinnati in the 1920s and remained a fixture in the area until she retired to Sarasota, Florida in 1963.

She began her career as a designer of murals, table linens and theatrical costumes but became known for her prints and her poetry. Her works can be found in Sarasota’s New College Collection, The Boston Public Library, The New York Public Library, the Cincinnati Art Museum. Hebrew Union College, the Dayton Museum of Art and the Library of Congress. She had many one-woman shows during her long and successful career. She had three volumes of poetry published: “Colloquy,” “Partial Portraits” and “Just a Bystander."
