BiographyBarbara Latham was a painter, printmaker, and children’s book illustrator. A native of Massachusetts, she studied at the Norwich Free Academy in Connecticut, and Pratt Institute, New York as well as the Art Students League summer school. She went to work as an illustrator for the Norcross Publishing Company as well as Forum magazine and the New York Times Sunday magazine. In 1925 she went to Taos, New Mexico where she met and married the artist Howard Cook. After traveling extensively, they settled permanently in Taos where Latham focused on the landscape and culture of the Taos area in her works forging a distinguished career as an artist and illustrator.
