David Silverman

BiographyDavid Silverman is a writer, animator, producer, and director. He studied art at the University of Maryland College Park before transferring to UCLA to major in animation. In 1987 he was hired as one of the animators for the original short cartoons of The Simpsons which aired on the Tracey Ullman Show. He continued with the show once it became a stand-alone series and has animated and directed hundreds of episodes over the series’s 30+ year run. He is particularly credited with creating the signature look and feel of The Simpsons main characters. In 2001 Silverman co-directed the innovative and highly-acclaimed animated movie Monsters, Inc. one of the first to use computer simulation technology to add realistic detail to characters and settings.
