David R. Huchthausen

Born in Wisconisn Rapids, WI, David Huchthausen earned a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, and his M.F.A. from Illinois State University, where he directed the glass program from 1976 – 1977. Huchthausen was awarded a Fulbright Research Scholarship to the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, Austria in 1977 and 1978 and served as master craftsman and director of the Glass Program at the Appalachian Center for the Arts in Smithville, TN. From 1980-1989, he worked as Associate Professor of Art and Director of Glass Programs at Tennessee Tech University. In addition to teaching, he has served as Curatorial and Acquisitions consultant to the Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, Wisconsin.

Huchthausen has had numerous one-man and group shows abroad and in the United States, including "200 Years of American Glass" at the Corning Museum of Glass. His sculpture is included in the permanent collections of 65 major museums worldwide including the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C., and the Hokkaido Museum in Sapporo, Japan. Huchthausen works in Seattle, WA.
