Daum Frères

French, founded 1878
BiographyDaum Glassworks was founded in 1878 in Nancy, France, originally as a factory that made utilitarian glass objects. It was not until the 1890s that the firm began making the hand-crafted Art Nouveau-style etched and cameo glass for which they became world renowned. The factory temporarily ceased art glass production during World War I then between the wars shifted to mass production of pâte-de-verre and other mold-formed Art Deco works. After World War II, the company began to primarily produce lead crystal, which they continue to manufacture today.
