Ernest Norling

born Pasco, Washington, 1892; died Seattle, Washington, 1974
BiographyErnest Norling was born in Pasco, Washington and trained at Whitman College and the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. He lived and worked in Seattle during the 1930s and again in the late 1940s as a painter, printmaker, illustrator and teacher. He also authored the book Perspective Made Easy which is still used as a teaching tool today. Norling is known particularly for the works he painted in the 1930s for the Works Progress Administration (WPA) post office mural program notably the 1938 mural Northwest Logging for the Bremerton post office.
