Fran Jenkins

born Uncha Valley, British Columbia, 1933
BiographyBorn in British Columbia, Fran Jenkins is a sculptor of animals. She has been working with her primary medium of stone for the last 40 years, and has become adept at balancing fluidity and strength in her forms. In addition to being an artist Jenkins is also a prospector and in 2002 she located the quarry near her home in Langley, British Columbia, from which she currently mines her serpentine stone. Her work as a prospector gives her an ever greater understanding of the stone she uses in her sculptures. Jenkins has also begun creating works in clay to be cast in bronze.
