BiographyPatti Warashina received both her bachelor and master of fine arts from the University of Washington, where she has taught for over 25 years. She was named Professor Emeritus at UW in 1995. In 1980 she received the Washington State Governor's Award Special Commendation for the Arts. She has shown at museums and galleries across the United States, including a retrospective at the Bellevue Art Museum in 1991. Warashina received the Twining Humber Lifetime Achievement Award, granted by Artist Trust, in 2002, and has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts in l975 and l986. Her work is in numerous museum collections in the U.S. and abroad, including the American Craft Museum in New York; the Smithsonian's American Art Museum, Washington DC.; Ichon World Ceramic Center, South Korea; and Kyoto National Museum of Modern Art, among others. The Bellevue Art Museum held a major retrospective of her work in 1991.
