Michael Ehle

born Salinas, California, 1953; died Seattle, Washington, 1999
BiographyMichael Ehle was a self-taught painter as well as an illustrator and printmaker. He decided to refocus his career on painting after less than a year of study at a Bible college. Ehle’s painting style incorporated various elements of religious paintings from cultures worldwide. He moved to Seattle in 1973 and quickly became a well-known figure in the local artworld.

In the 1990s when Ehle began to struggle with declining health due to HIV and AIDS, he began to reflect those struggles in his artwork.
