BiographyAlice Engley Beek moved to Tacoma in 1907 with her mother and younger son, Frederick, after living in Holland for 8 years and prior to that in Paris for 5 years. She was Art Director at the Annie Wright Seminary (now Annie Wright School) in Tacoma for 17 years. Beek had an international reputation, including multiple awards from the Paris International Expositions and the Grand Prize at the Alaska Yukon Pacific Exposition in 1909. She worked almost exclusively in watercolor.
