Painter Helen Boyd Keen received her early schooling at the Annie Wright School in Tacoma. Beginning in the mid-1930s, she studied under Mark Tobey and at the Art Students League in New York. She showed regularly in group shows at the Tacoma Art League and Seattle Art Museum and had solo exhibitions with both institutions in 1945. She later moved to New York City, and showed throughout the east coast and Canada.
