William Acheffborn Anchorage, Alaska, 1947

William Acheff studied art in high school but did not consider pursuing painting as a profession until he met the Italian artist Roberto Lupetti while working in San Francisco. He apprenticed with the artist for six months learning his classical, highly detailed style of painting. In 1973, Acheff moved to Taos, New Mexico. Of Athabascan and European heritage, he became inspired by the Native American cultures and objects all around him to make them the subjects of his meticulous still life paintings.

Acheff is a two time recipient of the Prix de West Award and the Masters of America West Purchase Award. He has shown in western art exhibitions across the country including the Autry Museum of the American West (Los Angeles) and the Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Center in Oklahoma City. His work can be found in private and public collections throughout the United States.
