Julie Mihalisin

Julie Mihalisin studied jewelry at Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and received her MFA from the Royal College of Art in London. She moved to Seattle in 1994 drawn by the studio glass community.

Mihalisin uses goldsmithing, enameling and glassmaking techniques to create her sculptural jewelry, casting, slumping, or grinding the glass then combining it with metal. She is fascinated with the complementary qualities of the two materials. She has recently adapted her techniques to a larger scale making wall sculptures in addition to jewelry.
