Ronald Ahlstrom
Ronald G. Ahlstrom, of Lombard, IL, passed away at the age of 90 on March 13, 2012, preceded in death by loving wife, Nancy, nee Costa, of 58 years and survived by loving son Arn. Proudly served as a Sergeant in World War II, both stateside and in the Philippines. After the war, he attended and graduated from The Art Institute of Chicago. His life was dedicated to art and he became a prominent abstract expressionist collage maker. His work was exhibited in countless exhibitions throughout the country. He also worked as the curator of the Tacoma Art Museum in Tacoma WA during the early 1960s. He was the recipient of many art awards and prizes throughout his long career. His works are part of numerous private, corporate and museum collections. His work was published in many national and international art publications including Who's Who in America and Who's Who in American Art. Mr. Ahlstrom was a proud and respected member of the DuPage Art Coalition where he provided input, mentored young artists and taught classes well into his eighties. In addition to making art, he taught art at both high school and college level. His other passions included history, literature and music. He was an accomplished base fiddle and guitar player and enjoyed playing in clubs during the late 1940s and 1950s.
