Jean Lurçat was a French artist noted for his role in the revival of contemporary tapestry.
Painter, tapestry designer; student of Victor Prouvé, at the Ecole de Nancy. Later he enrolled at the Académie Colarossi, then at the workshop of the engraver, Bernard Naudin. He made his first tapestries in 1917.
