Gordon Grant

BiographyGordon Grant was a marine painter and printmaker. He was particularly skilled with watercolor and received numerous awards for this work. He studied art in London then returned to the United States to become a staff artist for the San Francisco Examiner, also creating work for the New York World and Harper’s Weekly. In addition he created illustrations for both adult and children’s books. Sales of his print image of the U.S. Constitution helped preserve the ship as a national monument.
