BiographyShigenobu worked as a puppet maker before his successful career as a ukiyo-e printmaker and book illustrator. A student of the great Hokusai, Shigenobu married his teacher’s daughter. Shigenobu is known for his delicate surimono (lavishly printed, privately commissioned works), graceful beauties, and inviting landscapes.
