Stanislas Lépineborn Caen, France, 1835; died Paris, France, 1892

Stanislas Lepine was a landscape painter born in Caen, France in 1835. He moved to Paris in 1955 where he became a student of Eugene Boudin at Salon Des Artistes Francais and later while spending the summer of 1859 in Normandie, he became a student of Corot with whom he was associated for 15 years. He also was greatly influenced by Johan Barthold Jongkind. His series of views of the Seine, which he painted all of his life, have become synonymous with his name.
