Gayle Bard received her bachelor of fine art from the Cornish Institute, Seattle. She also studied at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, the Yale School of Art and University of Chicago. She settled in the Pacific Northwest in 1978 and moved to Bainbridge Island in the Puget Sound in 1986. She exhibits regularly throughout the Northwest and has received a number of public commissions in the region including at Fort Worden, Bainbridge Island City Hall, King County Arts Commission and Virginia Mason Hospital (Seattle) among others. She has received a number of grants and awards including a Centrum Fellowship, NEA Fellowship and GAP grants from Artist Trust. In 2013 the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art held a solo exhibition of her work.
