Trained in Painting and Drawing (BFA) and in Jewelry and Metalsmithing (MFA) Ken Bova’s work is one-of-a-kind mixed media assemblage, sometimes jewelry, made of vividly colored, painted, patterned, and textured bits of varying materials combined with silver and gold. His work has been published in American Craft, Metalsmith, Art Jewelry, and Ornament magazines and in a variety of exhibition catalogs, books, and articles.

He is a Past President of the Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG) with work in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian, Racine, Tacoma, Philadelphia, and Georgia Art Museums among others. He has presented workshops nationwide in places such as Haystack, Penland, Arrowmont, Idyllwild, and Peter’s Valley. Bova taught for more than 20 years in the Jewelry/Metals program at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana and a semester in MSU’s study abroad program in Corciano, Italy. While in Montana he received a Montana Arts Council Fellowship, two MSU Alumni Association Excellence in Teaching Awards, and two artists residencies, one at the Fundacion Valparaiso in Mojacar, Spain and the other at Jentel Foundation in Banner, Wyoming. In 2010 he accepted a position at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, where he teaches senior studio courses, enameling, and is Area Coordinator of the graduate program in Metal Design
