Layne Goldsmith
Layne Goldsmith received her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 1979. She has been a faculty member in the University of Washington’s Fibers program since 1983 and also has served as chair. In addition to her academic work she is an active studio artist with work in numerous public collections including the Washington State Arts Commission and King County Arts Commission, Hartford Insurance Group and AT&T corporate collections, and the Cranbrook Academy of Art Museum among others. She also has actively exhibited her work both nationally at such institutions as the American Craft Museum in New York, Bellevue Arts Museum, Detroit Institute for the Arts, Rochester Institute of Technology, and Wadsworth Athenaeum in Hartford, Connecticut as well as internationally at venues in Colombia, France, Scotland, and Israel. Goldsmith recently formed Dorjé Contemporary, a carpet design and production company.
