Martin Blankborn Sharon, Massachusetts, 1962

Martin Blank received his BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1984 then moved west to study at Pilchuck Glass Center and work with Dale Chihuly. His early glass works were figurative; he began making abstract landscapes in glass in 2001. These large-scale artworks have been made into architectural installations as well as outdoor works including his 200-foot-long sculpture Fluent Steps at the Museum of Glass. Blank’s glass sculptures have been internationally exhibited and collected. He currently owns and operates his own hot shop, Martin Blank Studios, in Seattle.
