Nelson Sandgrenborn Dauphin, Manitoba, Canada, 1917; died Corvallis, Oregon, 2006

Nelson Sandgren received his art training at the Chicago Institute of Design, University of Oregon and University of Michoacan, Mexico. He was a Professor of Art at Oregon State University, Corvallis for 37 years; he also taught at the University of Oregon.

Sandgren worked in oil, watercolor, and acrylic and also was a prolific printmaker. He was known for his stylized Northwest landscapes , particularly his images of the Oregon Coast. He also created murals for the airport in Eugene, Oregon. Sandgren exhibited widely around the Pacific Northwest and his work can be found in numerous regional collections.
